In order to build awareness amongst citizens about good governance, MyGov has launched the “Sabka Vikas Maha Quiz” series, on 1 March, 2022. This is a year-long project and consists of 14 episodes.

About the Quiz Series

  • It is being organized by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. This initiative is a part of an outreach effort to build awareness in citizens  and avail the benefits.

  • “Sabka Vikas Maha Quiz” series aims to sensitize the participants about the various government schemes and initiatives. The government has been working to ensure basic necessities to all citizens of the country through various programs and schemes for the holistic welfare of all citizens, especially the poor and marginalized sections of society.

  • This includes yojanas that resulted in the unprecedented number of houses built (PM Awas Yojana), water connections given (Jal Jeevan Mission), bank accounts (Jan Dhan), direct benefit transfer to farmers (PM KISAN), or free gas connections (Ujjwala) and many more life changing interventions for the poor.

  • The quiz is available in 12 languages- England, Hind, Malayalam, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Assamese, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Odia, and Kannada.

  • The theme of the first quiz is Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

About Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana

  • It was launched to reduce the challenges faced by the poor during the Covid-19 pandemic.

  • The main aim was to ensure no poor or vulnerable person or household went hungry. The estimated financial outlay: Rs. 3.4 lakh crore.

  • Under the scheme, all National Food Security Act beneficiaries were entitled to 5kgs of food grain every month.

  • An estimation of 1000 lakh MT of food grains have already been distributed under the scheme.

  • The Government of India will bear all expenditure of over Rs. 26,000 crore on account of food subsidy and Central assistance to states/UTs on account of intra-state transportation etc.

  • A key issue persisting time and again with the scheme is that the beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act are based on the last census (2011). The number of food-insecure people has increased since then and they remain uncovered.
