1.Aarogya Maitri Aid Cube

In News: World’s first portable hospital ‘Aarogya Maitri Aid Cube’ unveiled in Gurugram.

  • It is a portable hospital set up under Bharat Health Initiative for Sahyog Hita and Maitri (BHISHM), a project for indigenous people.  
  • It has a modular trauma management and support system consisting of 72 removable mini-cubes.  
  • Each minicube specializes in emergency and humanitarian operations.  
  • The Aarogya Maitri Cube is part of the Aarogya Maitri Project initiated by the Prime Minister of India and jointly developed by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Defense and the National Security Council.

2.Section 6A of the Citizenship Act, 1955

In News: Recently, the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court(SC) examined the validity of Section 6A of the Citizenship Act, 1955.

  • Section 6A become inserted into the Citizenship Act, 1955 as a part of the Assam Accord which become signed in 1985.

3.Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative

In News: African leaders gathered on the third day of the 28th Conference of the Parties  to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) to accelerate the green industrialization of the continent.

  • The Green Industrialization Initiative aims to accelerate the green growth of African industry and attract financing and investment opportunities under the Nairobi Declaration of the September 2023 African Climate Summit.  
  • The initiative builds on the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) existing $4.5 billion  green investment in Africa.  
  • The initiative emphasizes the importance of green industrialization to harness Africa’s vast and high-quality resources to ensure prosperity for all.  
  • It includes part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement, and prevents the production and use of fossil fuels, which greatly contribute to global warming.  
  • Africa has 40 percent of the  critical minerals needed for the world’s energy transition, and Africa is the world’s largest natural carbon reservoir.

4.World Soil Day 2023

Details:

  • World Soil Day is recognized every year on December 5th. 
  • It is commemorated by various international institutions, including the FAO. 
  • The theme of this day is “Soil and water, a source of life.” 
  • The IUSS initiated the day in 2002 to raise awareness about soil and its impact on human life, aiming to reduce erosion and degradation. 
  • With the leadership of Thailand’s King, the FAO established the day. 
  • Each year, there is a new topic to highlight the importance of conserving soil.

5.Financial Intelligence Unit India (FIU-IND)

Recent news: Indian Ministry of Finance has mandated that offshore cryptocurrency exchanges, including 28 Virtual Digital Assets (VDA) service providers like WazirX, Coin DCX, and Coin Switch, must register with the Financial Intelligence Unit-India as reporting entities under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Details about FIU:

  • The Government of India established FIU-IND on November 18, 2004 as the national agency responsible for receiving, processing, analysing, and sharing information about suspicious financial transactions. 
  • It also works to coordinate and strengthen the efforts of national and international intelligence, investigation, and enforcement agencies in combating money laundering and terrorism financing. 
  • FIU-IND operates independently under the supervision of the Economic Intelligence Council, led by the Finance Minister. 
  • It is a multi-disciplinary body consisting of personnel from various organisations, including the CBDT, CBEC, RBI, SEBI, Department of Legal Affairs, and intelligence agencies.
