1.Business Payment Solution Providers (BPSP)

In News: RBI has recently asked card networks like Visa and Mastercard to stop commercial card transactions under the Business Payment Solution Providers (BPSP) business.

  • Payments are often made by corporates through RTGS and NEFT account transfers.
  • BPSP allows organizations to accept card bills without having the specified mechanisms.
  • For example, a business could make bills to its smaller providers using this mechanism, despite the fact that the latter do not have the infrastructure for accepting credit payments.
  • The BPSP facility permits corporate credit card gamers to enable huge payments at once to vendors or merchants’ financial institution debts at the same time as additionally providing a credit score window of 15-45 days to the debtor.
  • BPSPs are regulated and licensed by RBI beneath the PA-PG (Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways) recommendations.

2.Renaming of National Film Awards

In News: There were some changes suggested by a committee set up by the Information and Broadcasting ministry.

  • The ‘Indira Gandhi award for excellent debut film of a director’ has been renamed ‘Best debut film director’.
  • The prize cash, which was an in advance break up between the Producer and the Director, will now best visit the Director.
  • The ‘Nargis Dutt Award for exceptional feature film on country wide integration’ will now be called the ‘Best feature film promoting national, social and environmental values’.
  • This class also merges award sections for social problems and environment conservation into one.
  • The Monetary Reward for the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, that is offered each year to an Indian film person for their extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema, has been elevated from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
  • The award for ‘Best Feature Film in each of the languages detailed in the Schedule VIII of the Constitution’ has been renamed as ‘Best (language) Feature Film’, and the award cash doubled to ₹ 2 lakh each.

3.Community Radio Stations

In News: Recently, revised policy guidelines for setting up Community Radio Stations (CRS) in India was released on the occasion of World Radio Day.

  • These are an essential 3rd tier in Radio Broadcasting, distinct from Public Service Radio broadcasting and Commercial Radio.
  • They are low strength Radio Stations that are supposed to be set-up and operated with the aid of local communities.
  • In December 2002, the Government of India accepted a policy for the furnishing of license, for setting up of Community Radio Stations, to well hooked up academic establishments.
  • They have a variety of capacity to weave collectively a network right into a stronghold and can assist provide impetus to rural development-related issues inclusive of Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), social audit, water harvesting and solar panel set up and so forth.
