1.Intelligent Grievance Monitoring System (IGMS) 2.0

In News: Recently, the Union Minister of  Science and Technology, Ministry of Shipping and Communications, Ministry of Public Grievances and Pensions launched an Intelligent Grievance Monitoring System (IGMS) 2.0.

  • IGMS 2.0 is a public grievance portal and Automated Analysis in Tree Dashboard portal of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).
  • It is implemented by IIT Kanpur. 
  • Objectives: 
    • The dashboard provides instant tabular analysis of registered and disposed of complaints, state and territory complaints and departmental data. 
    • It also helps officials identify the root cause of the complaint. 
    • This portal helps the DARPG prepare a draft letter for the selected scheme/ministry and expedite the handling of complaints in the concerned ministry/department. 
    • It is implemented with the power of artificial intelligence (AI).

2.Sastra Ramanujan Prize

In News: Ruixiang Zhang, Assistant Professor, University of California, Berkeley, USA to be awarded with the 2023 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize for his contributions in mathematics.

  • The award was established in  2005.  
  • It is conferred annually by  SASTRA University at its campus near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu on Ramanujan’s birthday on December 22. 
  • The prize is awarded annually to mathematicians under the age of 32 from around the world  working in a field influenced by  Srinivasa Ramanujan. 
  • The age limit is 32 years to commemorate the fact that Ramanujan has done phenomenal  work in that short span of time. 
  • Cash Prize: There is a citation and a prize of $10,000. 
  • This award has gained worldwide fame since its inception. 
  • Other recipients: Manjul Bhargava and Akshay Venkatesh

3.Sela Tunnel Project

In News: BRO officials recently said that almost 96 percent of the work on the strategically important Sela tunnel has been completed and it is likely to be opened by the end of the year.

    • Location: It is located in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh.
    • The Sela tunnel will be the world’s longest bi-lane tunnel at an altitude above 13,000 feet. 
    • It will provide all-weather connectivity between Guwahati in Assam and Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
    • The pass is being excavated below the Sela Pass on the NH-13 component of the Trans-Arunachal Highway system.
    • It is built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO)under Project Vartak and the tunnel’s construction commenced on April 1, 2019.
  • Project Details:
      • Tunnel 1: This single-tube tunnel has a length of 980m.
      • Tunnel 2: This bi-lane tunnel has a length of 1555m. It includes one escape tube for emergencies.
      • Roads: Approach to Tunnel 1 is 7100m, the road between the two tunnels is 1340m, and the approach to Tunnel 2 is 340 m long.
  • Sela Pass:
    • It is a high-altitude mountain pass in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
    • Elevation: 4,170 meters above sea level
    • It connects Tawang Valley to the rest of India and it is open throughout the year, Sela Pass is managed by the BRO.

4.Sankalp Saptaah

In News: The Prime Minister launched a unique week-long  Aspirational Blocks program called ‘Sankalp Saptaah’ at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

  • This is closely related to the effective implementation of the Aspirational Blocks Program (ABP).  
  • The aim of the initiative is to make administration at the block level more efficient and thus improve the quality of life of citizens. 
  • It will be implemented in 500 aspirational blocks in 329 districts of the country. 
  • Each day is dedicated to a specific development theme that all blocks work on. 
  • The themes for the first six days are “Sampoorna Swasthya”, “Suposhit Pariwaar”, “Swachhta”, “Krishi”, “Shiksha” and “Samridhi Diwas”. 
  • On the last day of the week, the work done during the week is celebrated as “Sankalp Saptaah – Samavesh Samaroh”.
