Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C)

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated the state-of-the-art Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal through which people can report cyber crimes online. A home ministry statement said the portal will let all cyber crime related complaints be accessed by the law enforcement agencies in the states and union territories to take action as per the law. So far, more than 700 police districts and more than 3,900 police station have been connected to the portal – www.cybercrime.gov.in <http://www.cybercrime.gov.in> – which is a citizen-centric initiative that will let people report cyber crimes online.

External Affairs Ministry and the Indian Missions celebrate ‘Vishwa Hindi Diwas’ on January 10

External Affairs Ministry as well as over 160 Indian Missions today celebrated ‘Vishwa Hindi Divas’ as part of efforts to popularize the language. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the MEA for promoting Hindi world-wide and hoped that use of various technology tools will help in establishing it as a global language. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that MEA will intensify efforts to popularize the language further. The MEA and Indian Missions have been celebrating ‘Vishwa Hindi Divas’ on January 10 every year since 2006 by organizing various events.

Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) releases list of top-10 of ‘world’s fastest-growing urban areas

Three Indian cities have been listed as the world’s fastest-growing urban areas, a survey by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) revealed. Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kollam were the only three cities to make it to the top 10 of the world’s fastest-growing cities. Malappuram was ranked No. 1 in the world rankings with a 44.1 per cent change between 2015 and 2020. While Kozhikode was ranked fourth with 34.5 per cent change and Kollam was at number 10 with 31.1 per cent, the EIU survey revealed. The other cities in the top 10 list were three cities from China, one each from Nigeria, Oman, UAE and Vietnam.

Indian Navy to organize week-long multilateral Milan 2020 exercise in Visakhapatnam

Eastern Naval Command will host Milan -2020, a multilateral exercise, from March 18 to 27, next year. Disclosing this to the press here on Tuesday, the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ENC, Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain, said that over 40 countries have been approached and around 30 have already confirmed their participation. Giving details, he said that the harbour phase will be held from March 18 to 23, the sea phase will be organised from March 24 to 26, and on March 27 the closing ceremony will be held.

Power Ministry launches ‘State Energy Efficiency Index 2019’

Shri Raj Kumar Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy and Honorable Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship today released the ‘State Energy Efficiency Index 2019’, which tracks the progress of Energy Efficiency (EE) initiatives in 36 states and union territories based on 97 significant indicators. The index was released on the occasion of RPM (Review, Planning and Monitoring) meeting, which is being held on 09-10 Jan 2020 at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi.
