Context- The Indian Naval force and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) have delivered the Gaganyaan Recovery Training Plan at INS Garuda in Kochi.

About the Gaganyaan Mission

  • The Gaganyaan mission aims to demonstrate the capability of safely landing three crew members in either the Bay of Bengal or the Arabian Sea after being launched into low earth orbit.
  • Low-Earth Orbit (frequently known as LEO) incorporates Earth-focused circles with a height of 2,000 km or less.
  • Objective: to demonstrate indigenous capability for sending humans into space via LEO missions.
  • Launch Vehicles: The Gaganyaan mission’s launch vehicle is the Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3).
    • The LVM3 launch vehicle’s human rating-compliant reconfiguration of all systems earned it the name “Human Rated LVM3” (HLVM3).
