Context
After almost eleven years of gap, the All India Household Consumption survey broad outcome has been revealed by the Government.
Survey Details
- Consumption Expenditure-Overall
Monthly average per capita consumption expenditure ratio has decreased significantly year on year as follows

The Survey report also says that rural average monthly consumption spending per person also increased year on year. The data is as follows.

The report also revealed that Urban average monthly consumption expenditure per person also increased. The data is as follows.

- State wise consumptions:
In the states, the average MPCE status. Sikkim is highest with rural and urban MPCEs is Rs7,731 and Rs12,105 respectively.
In Chhattisgarh state, it is actually lowest with rural members and its value is Rs2,466 and the urban cost is Rs4,483.
- Food Expenditures
There is a declination trend in rural families whereas the urban household spends less on food as a share of their monthly expenses
- Non-food Item Expenditure:
In rural areas the consumption expenditure on Non-food items is less than the urban area because urban area consumption is mainly dominated by transport and communication services. Spending on four wheelers, spending on education and durable goods also increased.
- Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) is there to know about the consumption of goods and services by the households.
So the HCES produced data which are really beneficial in ascertaining the areas of consumption in the household sector.
- The Ministry of statistics and programme Implementation
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation wing came into existence on 15th October, 1999
It acts as an independent Ministry post the merger of both the Department of Statistics and the Department of Programme Implementation.
Conclusion
The Critical Economic Survey data is a highly analysed survey data which is a handy instrument for the people or for the govt. to ascertain various parameters of the consumption pattern of households etc. It will be analysing the entire household consumption of the country and send the report. The ministry here plays a vital role while preparing the data to ensure the data is highly correct in all respects.
