Banks Heralding Accelerated Rural & Agriculture Transformation (BHARAT)

Context- Under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare launched the BHARAT campaign for banks.

Key Highlights on BHARAT

• The one month long Mission was launched with a target of Rs 7200 crore.
• The point of the mission is to get dynamic association and backing of individuals from commercial Banks in the public and private sector, Regional Rural Banks, Small Finance Banks, NBFCs and cooperative Banks select agreeable Banks to advance the Plan of Agricultural Infrastructure Fund. 

Agriculture Infrastructure Fund

• It is a financing option for farmers’ farm-gate infrastructure that will go live in 2020.
• Under this plan, Rs 1 lakh crore is to be dispensed by the monetary year 2025-26 and the interest aid and credit ensure help will be allowed till the year 2032-33.

Objective

• Enhanced marketing infrastructure to enable farmers to sell directly to a larger number of customers, thereby increasing farmers’ value realization. This will work on the general pay of ranchers.
