Schools of Eminence Project

Context- Recently, the Punjab Chief Minister has launched the Schools of Eminence.
Key Highlights
- Under the project, 117 state-run schools in 23 districts of the state will be upgraded with a special emphasis on classes 9 to 12.
- Besides career-related counseling, innovative teaching practices will also be followed and guidance for professional exams will also be provided to students.
- Its aim is reimagining education in state-run schools, envisioning holistic development of students and preparing them to be responsible citizens.
- It is based on Five pillars i.e.
- State-of-the-art infrastructure,
- Academics,
- Human resource management,
- Sports and co-curricular activities and
- Community engagement.
- The government has earmarked a budget of Rs 200 crore for the Schools of Eminence project.
Significance:
- The project can be a “revolutionary” step in ensuring a golden future for the students.
- Teachers as nation builders have to play a crucial role in bringing qualitative change in the education sector.
- It is a huge leap towards making Punjab a real frontrunner in education.
