Road transport and highways ministry launches ‘GATI’ portal

Giving more teeth to the digital monitoring the union ministry of road transport and highways has launched an online portal ‘GATI’. The new portal created by NHAI on the lines of PRAGATI portal used by PMO can be accessed from NHAI website and contractors, concessionaires can raise any project related issues on it.

All the issues brought to the notice through the new portal will be immediately taken up by the top NHAI officials. “Immediate action will be taken by the concerned officer, duly updating on the Portal. The portal was launched by Union Minister for Road Transport and highways and MSMEs Nitin Gadkari.

According to Gadkari, issues raised on GATI portal will be monitored daily by a team of officers in NHAI and will be constantly reviewed by the senior officers of NHAI and the ministry of road transport and highways. This portal is tipped to bring transparency and speed up the decision making giving real GATI to highway construction,” Gadkari said adding, that he is committed to quality, he has zero tolerance towards corruption.

Gadkari while reviewing the NHAI-Ministry projects called for adopting best practices in project management and construction. “Any inter-ministerial issues holding up a project may be brought to the notice of the ministry for his intervention to expedite resolution,” he said.

Gadkari also stressed the need to maintain strict adherence to project schedule. The minister will review the progress of about 500 projects valued at Rs 3 lakh crore during a two programme in Haryana. The projects from North-Eastern states, Maharashtra, Uttarkhand, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Laddakh, Haryana, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh will be reviewed today.
