Dhimsa Dance

In News: Tribal households in Neelabandha celebrated their first electricity supply since Independence with the ‘Dhimsa’ dance.

• Dimsa is a popular dance performed by tribes, which includes Bagata, Valmiki, Poraja, Khond, Gadaba, Kondadora, Mukadora, Kotia  in Andhra Pradesh .
• It represents the harmony and cultural history of the tribal groups.
• Themes: The dance versions are primarily based on issues like mythology, folktales, financial activities, kinship, and marital lifestyles.
• Music and Instruments: Music is vital to the dance, with gadgets like dappu, tudumu, mori, kidgi, gilka, and jodukommulu (now nearly out of use) played by guys.
• Performance: It is accomplished during gala’s, marriages, and non secular occasions, with a robust presence in the course of Chaitrapurab (Eetela Panduga) in the corporation region of ASR District.
  • Both men and women can dance collectively without hesitation, and even as songs are not obligatory, song performs a critical function.                                                                                                                               

Guru-Shishya Parampara Scheme

In News: Recently, development of the Guru-Shishya Parampara Scheme was highlighted. 

• It is being implemented by The Ministry of Culture implements the “Financial Assistance for Promotion of Guru-Shishya Parampara (Repertory Grant)” 
• It presents monetary help to cultural organizations engaged in acting arts (tune, dance, theatre, folks art, etc.) for education artists (shishyas) under the steering of a Guru.
• Eligibility: Cultural organisations throughout the country are eligible to apply, supplied they comply with the Guru-Shishya Parampara.
• Target Group: The scheme helps shishyas aging 3 years and above in dance, track, theatre, and conventional art forms.
• Financial Assistance: The scheme offers financial support of Rs. 15,000 per month for every Guru/Director. A maximum of 18 Shishyas in theatre and 10 Shishyas in tune and dance can get help under each Guru.
• Objective: The purpose is to ensure regular education of shishyas by their respective Gurus, following the conventional Guru-Shishya Parampara.

GARBHINI-DRISHTI

In News: India has made a significant advancement in maternal and neonatal health research with the launch of GARBHINI-DRISHTI, a groundbreaking platform developed under the GARBH-INi program. 

• This innovative data dashboard provides access to an extensive repository of clinical data, images, and biospecimens collected from over 12,000 pregnant women, newborns, and postpartum mothers. 
• By offering this unprecedented wealth of information, GARBHINI-DRISHTI aims to empower researchers globally to conduct transformative studies that can enhance maternal and neonatal health outcomes. 
• The platform facilitates collaboration among scientists and healthcare professionals, fostering impactful discoveries while providing clear guidelines for accessing the dataset for approved research purposes.

Kolleru Lake

In News: The Southern Zonal Bench of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has recently prohibited the Andhra Pradesh Government from advancing with six infrastructure projects in the ecologically sensitive Kolleru wetland area. 

• This decision stems from concerns regarding the potential environmental impacts of these projects, which include constructing regulators and barrages as part of salinity mitigation efforts. 
• The NGT emphasized that the government must secure all necessary permissions from statutory bodies before proceeding, highlighting the importance of conducting thorough scientific and ecological assessments to protect the biodiversity and hydrology of Kolleru Lake.
•  This lake, recognized as a Ramsar site and a vital habitat for migratory birds, plays a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance between the Krishna and Godavari river deltas.
