  • Guidance System: Utilizes an Imaging Infrared (IIR) seeker for target acquisition and tracking, allowing for effective operation in various weather conditions, including night-time engagements.
  • Range: The missile can engage targets from 500 meters up to 4 kilometers.
  • Attack Modes: Supports both top attack and direct attack modes to effectively penetrate armored targets.

Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill

In News: The Lok Sabha has passed the Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill, 2024, replacing the nearly century-old Indian Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1925.

  • The Bill is a part of India’s huge ambition to bolster its maritime economy, a crucial pillar under projects like PM Gati Shakti and Sagarmala.
  • It aligns India’s maritime regulation with international standards just like the Hague-Visby Rules, ensuring clarity at the duties, rights, liabilities, and immunities of providers.
  • It simplifies complicated legal jargon and offers truth for international and domestic stakeholders.

First Person View (FPV) Drones

In News: The Indian Army has completed a milestone via growing and efficiently checking out an indigenous First Person View (FPV) drone equipped with an anti-tank kamikaze payload.

    • Definition: FPV drones are remotely piloted aircraft that transmit real-time video feed from an onboard digital camera to the operator’s goggles or display screen, offering a first-person view of the drone’s perspective.
    • Purpose: Offers unique navigation and control, in particular for tactical or combat missions, racing, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
  • Significance
    • These drones provide a cost-effective way to neutralize high-value enemy property, inclusive of tanks, thereby improving the Army’s combat effectiveness.
    • The prominence of FPV drones in latest conflicts, substantially in Ukraine, has tested their capability to alter battlefield dynamics by efficiently neutralizing extensive and luxurious army assets.
