Hmar and Zomi Tribes

In News: Leaders from the Hmar and Zomi tribes in Manipur’s Churachandpur district have recently agreed to collaborate in restoring peace following violent clashes that resulted in one death and multiple injuries. 

• The violence erupted after a Hmar leader was assaulted, leading to heightened tensions between the two communities. 
• Despite an initial peace agreement reached, hostilities resumed the following night when a dispute over a Zomi flag escalated into conflict, prompting police intervention with tear gas and warning shots. 
• The local administration has since imposed restrictions and called for calm, urging community leaders to engage in constructive dialogue to prevent further violence and maintain order in the region.

Ana Sagar Lake

In News: The Supreme Court of India has mandated the Rajasthan government to dismantle the Seven Wonders Park, located near Ana Sagar Lake, within six months due to environmental concerns.

• This decision came after a petition highlighted violations of wetland regulations and the city’s master plan. 
• The court emphasized that any encroachment on wetlands must be removed to prevent ecological disaster, rejecting the state’s arguments that such actions would incur significant financial losses. 
• Additionally, the state government has committed to compensating for the environmental impact by creating an artificial wetland area twice the size of the affected land. 
• The court’s directive reinforces the importance of protecting wetlands and maintaining ecological balance in urban development projects.

Online Assurance Monitoring System

In News: The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister lately highlighted the role of the Online Assurances Monitoring System (OAMS) in managing government assurances. 

• It is a digital platform applied by way of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) to decorate transparency and performance in coping with government assurances.
• Assurances are guarantees, undertakings, or commitments given by Ministers at some stage in answers to parliamentary questions or debates. 
• Assurances ought to ideally be fulfilled within 3 months of being made.
• The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) is accountable for enforcing assurances under the Government of India (Allocation of Business) Rules, 1961.

Massive White Hydrogen Reserve

In News: France has determined a big 46-million-ton white hydrogen reserve in the Moselle region, valued at $92 trillion.

• • White hydrogen, a naturally occurring gas in the Earth’s crust, is a noticeably new discovery in the energy sector. 
  • Unlike different kinds — grey, brown, blue, and inexperienced hydrogen — white hydrogen demands no business manufacturing and emits no carbon, making it an environmentally advanced energy source. 
  • Its potential is considerable, with deposits located worldwide, which includes within the US, Russia, Australia, and Europe.

• Extraction of Hydrogen

• • Hydrogen exists in aggregate with different elements, so it must be extracted from certain compounds like water (H2O).
  • Green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy resources (wind, sun, hydropower) through electrolysis—splitting water into hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2).
