Hmar and Zomi Tribes

- The violence erupted after a Hmar leader was assaulted, leading to heightened tensions between the two communities.
- Despite an initial peace agreement reached, hostilities resumed the following night when a dispute over a Zomi flag escalated into conflict, prompting police intervention with tear gas and warning shots.
- The local administration has since imposed restrictions and called for calm, urging community leaders to engage in constructive dialogue to prevent further violence and maintain order in the region.
Ana Sagar Lake
In News: The Supreme Court of India has mandated the Rajasthan government to dismantle the Seven Wonders Park, located near Ana Sagar Lake, within six months due to environmental concerns.
- This decision came after a petition highlighted violations of wetland regulations and the city’s master plan.
- The court emphasized that any encroachment on wetlands must be removed to prevent ecological disaster, rejecting the state’s arguments that such actions would incur significant financial losses.
- Additionally, the state government has committed to compensating for the environmental impact by creating an artificial wetland area twice the size of the affected land.

Online Assurance Monitoring System
In News: The Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister lately highlighted the role of the Online Assurances Monitoring System (OAMS) in managing government assurances.
- It is a digital platform applied by way of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MoPA) to decorate transparency and performance in coping with government assurances.
