In News: In a significant move towards green transportation and self-reliance, the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), has partnered with Delhi-based NTF Energy Solutions Private Limited to commercialize indigenous Type-IV CNG cylinders

What are Type-IV Composite CNG Cylinders?

Unlike traditional Type-I steel cylinders, Type-IV cylinders are constructed from advanced materials designed for superior performance and safety:

  • Material: They feature a corrosion-free polymer liner reinforced with carbon fiber (CFRP – Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer).
  • Lightweight: These cylinders are up to 75% lighter than conventional steel variants.
  • Durability: They are designed to withstand burst pressures exceeding 600 bar, far surpassing regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Features: They possess high resistance to leakage, corrosion, and vibrations.

Strengthened India–Trinidad & Tobago Relations

In News: As of May 2026, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held extensive talks with Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in Port of Spain, focusing on deepening bilateral ties through new initiatives, digital cooperation, and fulfilling previous commitments.
