In News: In a significant move towards green transportation and self-reliance, the Technology Development Board (TDB), under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), has partnered with Delhi-based NTF Energy Solutions Private Limited to commercialize indigenous Type-IV CNG cylinders
What are Type-IV Composite CNG Cylinders?
Unlike traditional Type-I steel cylinders, Type-IV cylinders are constructed from advanced materials designed for superior performance and safety:
- Material: They feature a corrosion-free polymer liner reinforced with carbon fiber (CFRP – Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer).
- Lightweight: These cylinders are up to 75% lighter than conventional steel variants.
- Durability: They are designed to withstand burst pressures exceeding 600 bar, far surpassing regulatory requirements.
- Safety Features: They possess high resistance to leakage, corrosion, and vibrations.
Strengthened India–Trinidad & Tobago Relations
