U.P wins best tableau award among states/UTs

Uttar Pradesh’s tableau, based on the theme ‘One District One Product and Kashi Vishwanath Dham’, was adjudged the best among 12 States and Union Territories (UT) at this year’s Republic Day parade, while the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Civil Aviation were declared joint winners among the Ministries and departments. The marching contingent of the Navy was adjudged the best among the Services, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was named the best among the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and auxiliary forces. In addition, for the first time, the general public was invited to vote for the best marching contingents and best tableaux in the popular choice category through the MyGov platform. The online poll was conducted between January 25 and 31, according to the Defence Ministry.

Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship 2022 announced by Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser

The Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India under its “Waste to Wealth” Mission announced the “Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship 2022” to empower young innovators who are engaged in community work of waste management, waste awareness campaigns, waste surveys etc. as Swachhta Saarthis and implement actions to reduce waste for a greener planet. The Waste to Wealth Mission is one of the nine national missions of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC) The fellowship was launched in 2021 to recognize students, community workers/self-help groups, and municipal/sanitary workers who are engaged in tackling the enormous challenge of waste management, scientifically and sustainably.

Govt decides to continue Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram Scheme

The Central Government has decided to continue the Scheme of “Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram, RYSK for another five years from 2021 -22 to 2025-26 with an outlay of over 2,710 crore rupees. The decision was taken with a view to achieving the objectives of developing the personality and leadership qualities of the youth and to engage them in nation building activities. Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur, thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the continuation of the RYSK Scheme. The Rashtriya Yuva Sashaktikaran Karyakram Scheme is the flagship Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The Scheme beneficiaries are the youth in the age-group of 15 to 29 years, in line with the definition of ‘youth’ in the National Youth Policy, 2014.

India’s foreign exchange reserves down by 629.755 billion

The country’s foreign exchange reserves declined by USD 4.531 billion to stand at USD 629.755 billion in the week ended January 28, RBI data showed on Friday.

In the previous week ended January 21, the reserves had decreased by USD 678 million to USD 634.287 billion. It touched a lifetime high of USD 642.453 billion in the week ended September 3, 2021. During the reporting week ended January 28, the decrease in the reserves was on account of a fall in the foreign currency assets (FCAs), a major component of the overall reserves, and gold reserves. FCAs tumbled by USD 3.504 billion to USD 566.077 billion, as per weekly data by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
