Jharkhand Assembly election results: CM Raghu bar Das hands his resignation to the Governor

After a day of counting, Jharkhand Assembly election results are finally out. The pre-poll alliance between Congress, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has won majority with a total of 47 seats between them. This means they can easily sail past the magic mark of 41 seats required to stake claim to power in the 81-strong Jharkhand Assembly. Out of the three, JMM won 30 seats, Congres won 16 seats and RJD won one seat.

JMM leader and most popular face for CM Hemant Soren has won both Dumka and Barhait Assembly seats. Meanwhile, incumbent CM Raghubar Das could not retain his seat. On Monday late evening, he tendered his resignation from the post of CM to Governor Draupadi Murmu. He will hold the office till the new government is in place.

Indian Ambassador to US Harsh Vardhan Shringla appointed next Foreign Secretary

The Narendra Modi government on Monday approved the appointment of Indian ambassador to the United States Harsh Vardhan Shringla as the next foreign secretary. He has replaced Vijay Gokhale. The Appointments Committee of the cabinet officially announced Shringla’s appointment on Monday. Harsh Vardhan Shringla (born 1962) is an Indian diplomat and the current Indian Ambassador to the United States. He is the 33rd Foreign Secretary (Designate) of India and will assume charge on 29 January 2020. He previously served as the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh and Ambassador to Thailand.

QRSAM (Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile) system developed by DRDO successfully flight-tested

Quick Reaction Surface to Air Missile System (QRSAM) developed by DRDO has been successfully flight tested on Monday from Integrated Test Range in Odisha’s Chandipur. The missile was flight tested with full configuration in deployment mode intercepting the target in mid-air and meeting mission objectives. The entire event was monitored by ground telemetry systems, range radar systems and electro optical tracking system.

RBI caps lender’s exposure on a peer-to-peer lending (P2P) platform to all borrowers at Rs 50 lakh

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in a move to protect the interests of consumers, has passed a regulation that says the allowable exposure of a lender to all of its borrowers should not go over Rs 50 lakh ($70,000) at any time on a peer-to-peer (P2P) platform, according to a report by Business Insider. The lender investing more than Rs 10 lakh across P2P platforms will have to produce a certificate to P2P platforms from a practicing Chartered Accountant certifying minimum net-worth of Rs 50 lakh.

NASVI and FSSAI to jointly organize national street food festival in Delhi on December 25-29

National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) and food regulator FSSAI will jointly organize the National Street Food Festival in the National Capital during 25th-29th December. The 11th National Street Food Festival will be organised at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and around 75,000 people are expected to visit the festival. During the event, FSSAI will also organize its second edition of ‘National Eat Right Mela’ to promote healthy foods.
