PM Modi delivers State of the World special address at World Economic Forum

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the ‘State of the World’ special address at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Davos Agenda on Monday at 8:30 PM IST via video conference. The virtual event will be held from January 17 to 21 and will also be addressed by several Heads of State including Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, European Commission President Ursua von der Leyen, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Chinese President Xi Jinping, among others. The event will also witness the participation of top industry leaders, international organisations and civil society, who will deliberate on critical challenges being faced by the world today and discuss how to address them. The summit will begin with a special address by Chinese President Xi Jinping. PM Modi will deliver his special address on Monday evening, which will be followed by the address of United Nations’ Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

MeitY organises 26th CISO Deep Dive Training program

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is organising 26th CISO Deep Dive Training program under Cyber Surakshit Bharat initiative. The training is aimed to equip participants with better understanding of the emerging cyber threat landscape, and understand best practices in cyber security. The program which began on Monday will continue till 22nd of January. It will cover topics such as Governance Risk and Compliance and Data Privacy, Network Security, EndPoint Security, Application and Data Security, Cloud Security, Mobile Security, Cryptography, Cyber Security related provisions in IT Act.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announces ‘Open Data Week’

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on Monday announced the initiation of the Open Data Week to encourage the adoption of open data and promote innovation across India’s urban ecosystem. According to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, leading up to the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – Smart Cities: Smart Urbanization’ conference scheduled to be held in Surat, during February 2022, the Open Data Week is part of a series of pre-event initiatives being undertaken by MoHUA to promote awareness and use of open data. It will be conducted during the third week of January, i.e., from 17th January 2022 to 21st January 2022, said the ministry. As per the ministry, the event will see participation from all 100 Smart Cities that will be publishing high-quality datasets and data blogs on the Smart Cities Open Data Portal.

MEIL completes 5-km tunnelling work as part of Zojila project

Infrastructure major Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) on Sunday said it has completed 5-km-long tunnelling work as part of the 18-km-long all-weather Zojila Tunnel in a record time of 14 months. The company in a statement said the project of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL), being executed by the MEIL, is envisaged to ensure connectivity between Srinagar and Ladakh throughout the year without any interruptions. The Zojila Tunnel — Nilgar 1, 2 & Zojila main tunnel — is being expeditiously executed, despite unfavourable weather conditions like snowfall, and blizzards at a high altitude of 3,528 metres above mean sea level, MEIL said. The statement noted that Zojila project, Asia’s longest bi-directional tunnel, is a challenging development project in India for strategic reasons too.
