Context- For its environmentally friendly masterplan, design, and policy interventions, Bengaluru Airport City Ltd. (BACL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL), received the Indian Green Building Council’s (IGBC) Green Cities Platinum certification.
Key Highlights
- The certification recognizes BACL’s master planning in a variety of areas, including green cover, sustainable mobility, water management, energy efficiency, waste management, information and communication technology (ICT), and land use classification.
- The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) gives policy initiatives, green master planning, and the implementation of green infrastructures the Platinum rating. This honor will motivate all other state-owned enterprises (SEZs) in the country to take the same green initiative and efforts as Kandla SEZ.

- Through local chapters, all construction industry stakeholders participate in council activities.
- In addition, the council collaborates closely with a number of state governments, the central government, the World Green Building Council, and bilateral and multilateral organizations to promote green building principles throughout the nation.
