Context- The second intelligence and security chiefs’ conference, attended by 26 nations, was recently held in India.
Key Highlights
- In April 2022, one day before the Raisina Dialogue began, the conference was held for the first time. The Indian Prime Minister and National Security Advisor (NSA) addressed it.
- The country’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), and the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), which reports to the NSA, organize the security conference as part of Raisina Dialogue.
- Objective: To talk about the geopolitical tensions that are still going on, gave people a chance to talk about how to deal with this crisis and other geopolitical tensions. However, the meeting centered on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
- Nature of Meeting: It is based on the Munich Security Conference and the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore.
- The Raisina Dialogue and the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting occurred simultaneously. In 2023, India will be in charge of both the G20 and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
- British, French, Japanese, and Bahraini intelligence chiefs were among those present despite the absence of the United States.
Raisina Dialogue
- The Raisina Discourse is India’s chief gathering on international affairs and geoeconomics focused on resolving the most difficult issues confronting the worldwide local area.
- The Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs of the Indian Government are hosting the conference.
- Through its theme of “Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence:” it aims to capture the state of the world in 2023. Beacon in the Storm?”
- Heads of state, cabinet ministers, and local government officials are among the participants in the multi-stakeholder, cross-sectoral Dialogue, along with thought leaders from the media, academia, and private industry.
Observer Research Foundation
- It is an independent think tank with three centers in Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata. Its headquarters are in New Delhi.
- It helps discover and inform India’s choices and aims to guide and support policy thinking in the direction of constructing a strong, prosperous India in a fair and equitable world. It brings Indian ideas and voices to international debates.
